La esfera soñadora

UK's The Orb made a great psychedelic downtempo record that's actually enjoyable for people who don't usually get into the kind. The entire record is full of solid dubs that make for great relaxing or background studying music. But it's fully appreciated when paid close attention to layers and samples. I've even heard some fragments of Jim Morrison's poetry that's found in the rare 'Dionysius'. Enjoy~

Los ingleses 'The Orb' hicieron un simpatico discazo de musica downtempo psicodelica que es facil de disfrutar incluso para aquellos que no suelen escuchar musica electronica. El disco esta lleno de solidos 'dubs' que hace que el disco sea muy bueno para descanzar o tenerlo bajito como musica de fondo para estudiar. Pero la verda es que The Dream se disfruta realmente cuando le prestas atencion a todas las capas de sonido y el uso de samples. The Pepper Pots - Muevelo!

Otra banda de la tierra del sol, España. Esta vez es The Pepper Pots. Altos musicos que incorporan el sonido Motown soul de los 60´s con una dosis de ska clasico. En fin, Deliciosa combinación con unas vocalistas Españolas que tienen un inglés muy simpatico. ¡A disfrutar!

Another band from the land of sun and beaches, Spain. This time is the Pepper Pots. Highly skilled musicians that incorporate the classic Motown sound from the 60's with a dose of classic ska. Anyways, a delicious combination together with female vocalists. Enjoy!

el lider de la vieja Kortatu (se acuerdan? Mierda de Ciudad) y vocalista de Negu Gorriak (alta banda) tiene su proyecto solista y este es su ultimo disquillo. Se llama Asthmatic Lion Sound Systema y tiene buenos samples, vocalistas femeninas, y buena vibra. Se los dejo para que lo chusmeen.

the ex-lead vocalist of Kortaku and Negu Gorriak (two oi!punk/ska/indie bands from Spain) has his new solist project and this is his latest album. It's called Asthmatic Lion Sound Systema and has pretty nice sampling, female vocals, and all-around good vibe. I leave it for you to check it out~!

Natty Vibes

The CD that started my summer-long obsession with Hawaiian reggae (or Jawaian if you will) back in 2003. That summer I got to live for almost 2 months with my friend Dan and Kurt in their lovely Lahaina house. I'll never forget my first time in the islands and, like every good memory it was accompanied by proper music. This is Natural Vibrations' sophomore release and probably some of their best stuff (IMHO).

El CD que comenzó mi obsesión veraniega con el reggae Hawaiiano (o Reggae Jawaiano si prefieren) alla por 2003. Ese verano tuve el placer de vivir por 2 meses con mis amigos Dan y Kurt en su hermosa casona en Lahaina. Nunca me olvidaré de mi primera visita a las islas hawaiianas, y como toda buena memoria fue acompañada de musica apropiada. Este fue el segundo lanzamiento de la banda Natural Vibrations y probablemente el mejor disco hasta ahora.

Mas disquillos de verano. Esta vez del pais del sol naciente, Bagdad Cafe The Trench Town son de Osaka donde estuve visitando al año pasado y encontre por casualidad esta banda liderada por una chica con voz muy llena de soul y calor. El CD se llama Satisfaction y produce exactamente eso. Aplique calor, vacaciones y disfrutar.

Muchachito

Ya de vuelta en San Francisco. Que viajecito! De veras que extraño el calor y la humedad insoportable de Buenos Aires en Enero. Es por eso que todavia estoy de veranito y les traigo uno de mis discos favoritos de estos ultimos años, Vamos Que Nos Vamos de Muchachito Bombo Infierno. Banda oriunda de Barcelona liderada por el ex-boxeador Jairo Pereira. Perfecto para escuchar una tardecita de calor, preferiblemente con cerveza y cigarrillos al alcance.


Now back in San Francisco. What a trip¡ I really miss the heat and humidity of Buenos Aires in January. That's why I'm still in a summer mood so I bring to you one of my favorite albums of these past couple of years, 'Vamos Que Nos Vamos' by Muchachito Bombo Infierno. From Barcelona the band main guy is an ex-boxer named Jairo Pereira. It's perfect for a hot summer afternoon, preferably with beer and smoke nearby.

Hola gentes! Finalmente me decidí pasarme el blog que tenia en Livejournal que ya no leía casi nadie a este famoso sitio de blogs.
Discos Vecinos se trata de compartir con todos vosotros un poco las aventuras musicales en las que embarco semanalmente. Materiales de archivo, clásicos, cosas lindas y cosas raras. Una cornucopia del mundo musical atraves de mis ojos...o mejor dicho: oídos.

Discos Vecinos (Neighbor Records) is all about sharing with you all some of the musical adventures I embark weekly. Archival material, classics, pretty stuff and weird stuff too. A world of music cornucopia through my eyes...actually, my ears.
