Aqui les dejo a Gage con su lanzamiento del 2008, Changer Le Monde. Un lindo mix de la dulce voz que nos regala el frances Gage acompañado por samples de musica vieja (soul/r&b/reggae) mezclada con arreglos nuevos. Disfruten!

Bettye LaVette, the real deal. I was so happy to see this re-release of all her best singles. It's her classic material with Bettye at her best. She recorded with some of the best musicians in the land at the time, including the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and the infamous James Brown Revue. No wonder these tracks are still being sampled today for their bass lines and drums. The lady is still touring; and she started in 1962 at the tender age of sixteen. My dad would be proud I listen to this stuff nowadays. Enjoy!

Bettye LaVette es la posta. Me puse muy contento de ver que hayan re-editado todos sus singles que siempre fueron lo mejorcito que saco esta señora. Es su material clasico con Bettye en sus mejores momentos. Grabo con algunos de los mejor musicos de su epoca, incluyendo Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section y los musicos de James Brown Revue. No es moco de pavo! Con razon estos temas todavia los samplean hoy en dia por sus bajos y las baterias de ostia. La mujer todavia canta y esta de gira, empezo en 1962 a la tierna edad de 16. Mi viejo estaria orgulloso de saber que escucho este tipo de musica hoy en dia. Disfruten!

Reach for the brighest star...

Drizabone only CD to date. They were an international ensemble of dance music led by the record producers Billy April and Vincent Garcia. They used various female vocalists to provide the vocal element to their output. Sophie Jones sang for them the first couple of singles, but it was really with Atlanta's own Kymberley Peer that they reached their sweet spot. I don't know what happened to them. It's a rare sleeper hit that's currently out of print and a true collectors item. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!


El unico CD que saco Drizabone en 1994. Banda internacional de musica dance con una vibra al estilo Northern Soul / Neo-Soul liderada por los productores Billy April y Vincent Garcia. Usaron varias cantantes para darle el componente vocal a sus composiciones. Sophie Jones canto con ellos algunos de los primeros sencillos, pero fue realmente Kymberley Peer de Atlanta, Georgia la cual le dio la voz inconfundible a esta alta banda. No se que sucedio con ellos. Pero este disquillo es un hit desconocido que esta completamente agotado (solo una tirada) y es ahora un autentico disco de colleccion. Espero que lo disfruten tanto como lo he disfrutado yo!

Otra banda de la tierra del sol, España. Esta vez es The Pepper Pots. Altos musicos que incorporan el sonido Motown soul de los 60´s con una dosis de ska clasico. En fin, Deliciosa combinación con unas vocalistas Españolas que tienen un inglés muy simpatico. ¡A disfrutar!

Another band from the land of sun and beaches, Spain. This time is the Pepper Pots. Highly skilled musicians that incorporate the classic Motown sound from the 60's with a dose of classic ska. Anyways, a delicious combination together with female vocalists. Enjoy!

Mas disquillos de verano. Esta vez del pais del sol naciente, Bagdad Cafe The Trench Town son de Osaka donde estuve visitando al año pasado y encontre por casualidad esta banda liderada por una chica con voz muy llena de soul y calor. El CD se llama Satisfaction y produce exactamente eso. Aplique calor, vacaciones y disfrutar.

This time from the country of the rising sun, Bagdad Cafe The Trench Town are from Osaka, where I was visiting last year and found by chance this band leaded by a chick with a soulful voice that's pure fire.
