Una de las bandas que definió la primer decada del siglo XXI.
Es una mezcla de todo tipo de elementos musicales (guitarras distorsionadas, voces grabadas en lo-fi, hip-hop clásico, psicodelia de los 60's, cantos de porristas, trompetas funky), pero a la vez es punk en espíritu.
En mi humilde opinion, The Go! Team cambio la escena de la música sin tener un impacto muy 'mainstream'. Este CD es su ultimo disco e incluye un track con Chuck D de la famosa banda Public Enemy . Que mas se puede decir? Disfruten los videos también!


One of the bands that defined the first decade of the 21st century in music.
It's a mix of all kinds of music elements (distorded guitars, lo-fi vocals, old school hip-hop, cheerleading chants, funk horns), yet it is punk in spirit.
In my humble opinion, the Go! Team changed the music scene entirely without making much of a mainstream impact.
This CD is their latest and it included a track with Chuck D of Public Enemy . Enough said. Enjoy the videos too!

Amor crudo y BTB

Relativamente nuevo grupo del sello Second Royal en Kyoto, Japon. Tambien son una gran parte del equipo de productores en el sello PPP (Pan Pacific Playa). Luvraw y BTB son un duo de Yokohama que hace ritmos retro/electro con mucho uso de una divertida talkbox (y no al estilo John Bon Jovi, pero al contrario: con onda y respeto hacia los creadores del sonido electro funk). Absolutamente amo el estilo de estos muchachos! El nombre les sienta muy bien; la musica es mas que sexy y divertida. Este es su primer disco LP y contiene un par de colaboraciones con mi MC japones favorito de hace ya un rato largo, Roberto Yoshino, ademas de Yakenohara y otros. Altamente recomendable! Es un poco triste que ya haya terminado el verano en este lado del mundo porque este disco es un clásico ejemplo de un buen disco veraniego. Disfruten.

Somewhat new act from the Second Royal label in Kyoto. They're also a big part of the production team for PPP (Pan Pacific Playa) label. Luvraw and BTB is the duo from Yokohama making the retro electro beats with plenty of talkbox action. Absolutely love their style! It suits their names very well, the music is plenty sexy and fun. Their first LP release features collaborations with my all-time favorite Roberto Yoshino and Yakenohara amongst others. Highly recommended! Too bad the summer is ending for us on this side of the world, because this is a classic summer release. Enjoy.

Music for Shinkansen (bullet train)

"Portable Disco" is the title of this LP by Ram Rider, techno pop artist from JP. Yes, i'm still sharing stuff I brought back from my trip, but I actually got this record before my last visit.

Had been saving this amusing little record for my trip to Japan. There are times when I'll buy a record and save it for a good occasion, much like a good wine that needs to be opened for a celebration or special event.

I decided to play this on the almost 3-hour ride from Tokyo to Osaka by bullet train (Shinkansen). It surprisingly matched the smooth and fast ride perfectly!! The record definitely has a flow and vibe that makes it great for driving or long rides. Enjoy!

"Portable Disco" es el titulo de este LP por el artista de techno-pop Ram Rider. Si, todavía estoy posteando cosillas que traje de mi viaje de verano, pero en realidad este disco lo compre antes de mi ultima visita.

Había estado guardando este divertido disquillo para mi viaje al Nipon. Hay veces que compro un disco y lo guardo para escucharlo en alguna buena ocasión, cual si fuese un buen vino que solo puede ser descorchado para celebrar o algún acontecimiento especial.

Decidí escucharlo durante el viaje de casi 3 horas entre Tokyo y Osaka en el tren bala (Shinkansen). Me sorprendió lo mucho que complemento el rápido y suave viaje de este tren!! El disco tiene una vibra y un ritmo que lo hace muy apropiado para manejar o hacer largos viajes. Disfruten!

De De Mouse y su ultimo discazo titulado: "Un viaje a la libertad". Cada disco del muchacho este es un viaje sin duda alguna. Artista japones de techno y breakbeats con una habilidad increíble por los samples, ritmos recortados y sintetizadores futuristicos. Con tapa de Akihiko Yoshida, uno de los artistas mas reconocidos de la compania de videojuegos Square Enix que trabajo en varios juegos de la serie Final Fantasy. Que mas se puede pedir? Si no sabias, ahora sabes. Altamente recomendado.


De De Mouse and his last record titled A Journey to Freedm. Every record from this guy is a journey indeed. Techno and breakbeat artist from Japan with an amazing skill for samples, chopped up beats and futuristic synths. With a cover by Akihiko Yoshida, one of the most famous artists from the videogame company Square Enix, whose work appeared in several games of the Final Fantasy series. What else can you ask for? Highly recommended.

Reggae resonante

De esto se trata lo que hace el buen muchacho mejicanote Lengualerta. Prometedor artista de reggae que mezcla elementos de hip-hop, dancehall, world music y otras cosillas para darle un sabor unido a su sonido. Lo descubri atraves de otro artista cuyo nombre incorpora una parte del cuerpo y un adjetivo en una sola palabra: Bocafloja (al que ya me remitire en otro momento, ya que me gusta y mucho). Disfruten este disco del 2010.

This is what the nice Mexican fellow Lengualerta is all about. Promising reggae artist that mixes elements from hip-hop, dancehall, world music and a few other things to give his sound a unique flava. I've found out about his through another artist whose name also mixes a body part with an adjective: Bocafloja (whose record I will be talking about since I also like it very much). Enjoy this record from 2010.

Kuchiroro - Todos los dias son una sinfonia

Mas amor por nuestros vecinos del oriente. Compartiendo mas adquisiciones y hallazgos de mi viaje por las tierras del Nipón.

'everyday is a symphony' - el ultimo disco del maravilloso trio Kuchiroro. Conocidos por sus ingeniosas creaciones en el genero del breakbeat, la verdad es que el talento de estos muchachos supera todas mis expectaciones cada vez que sacan un disco. Una especie de Beastie Boys electrónicos con melodías igualmente clásicas y futurísticas; las palabras no les hacen justicia. Pero sobre todas las cosas un disco super pegajoso y altamente recomendado!

More love for our neighbors from the East. Sharing some more acquisitions and findings from my trip through the land of the Rising Sun.

'everyday is a symphony' - is the last album from the wonderful trio Kuchiroro. Known for their clever creations in the genre of breakbeat, truth is that these guys' talent exceeds all my expectations every single time they release a record. Sortof like a more electronic version of the Beastie Boys with melodies equally classic and futuristic; words don't do these guys justice at all. But, above all things it's a super catchy record that's highly recommended!

classic reggae and 90's jungle mix

En la mas maravillosa disqueria de Kyoto con la compra de un CD de reggae me dieron un mixtape grabado en un casete (!) de 70 minutos. Sin saber si lo podria escuchar o no, me sorprendí al encontrar que el sudodicho era este increíble de riddims clásicos y nuevas versiones remixadas en vivo con lo que parece ser todos vinilos. Una joyita del Nipon de las manos de los músicos de New Generation Impact! Aqui les va el lado A. Disfruten! (y avisen si quieren el Lado B)

At the most amazing record store of Kyoto I got a free mixtape recorded on an actual cassette tape (!) for buying a reggae CD. Without thinking much of it I finally got to play it to be pleasantly surprised by this incredible mix of classic riddims and new versions mixed live on what seems to be an all-vinyl mix. A pearl from Japan by the good folks from New Generation Impact! Here goes Side A (and let me know if you'd like to hear Side B). Enjoy!
