Cuando vi que el ruso de Ninja Tune, DJ Vadim habia hecho un remix de este chico me tuve que parar a escuchar. Un lindo disco, con ese sonido tan popular entre los ninios hoy en dia, la cumbia electronica con samples y voces al estilo hip-hop/dancehall. ja!

When I saw Russian DJ & producer, Vadim had remixed this kid I had to stop and take a closer listen. A very nice record, with that nowadays popular style of cumbia influenced sounds. ja!

Cambio - Ó es que explota?

Empezamos con un disco gratuito para descargar del muchacho Cambio y su gente. Junto con Boca Floja y un par de otro artistas que estare compartiendo mas adelante me hacen confiar nuevamente en el hip-hop en español. Samples clásicos de jazz y soul para un sonido dulce. Disfruten! Feliz 2011~!

We start with a free-to-download record from the good guy Cambio and his people. Together with Boca Floja and a few other artists (that I'll be sharing with you at a later time) make me believe again in the possibility of Latin hip-hop (both in Spanish and English). Proof of Youth

Una de las bandas que definió la primer decada del siglo XXI.
Es una mezcla de todo tipo de elementos musicales (guitarras distorsionadas, voces grabadas en lo-fi, hip-hop clásico, psicodelia de los 60's, cantos de porristas, trompetas funky), pero a la vez es punk en espíritu.
En mi humilde opinion, The Go! Team cambio la escena de la música sin tener un impacto muy 'mainstream'. Este CD es su ultimo disco e incluye un track con Chuck D de la famosa banda Public Enemy . Que mas se puede decir? Disfruten los videos también!


One of the bands that defined the first decade of the 21st century in music.
It's a mix of all kinds of music elements (distorded guitars, lo-fi vocals, old school hip-hop, cheerleading chants, funk horns), yet it is punk in spirit.
In my humble opinion, the Go! Team changed the music scene entirely without making much of a mainstream impact.
This CD is their latest and it included a track with Chuck D of Public Enemy . Enough said. Enjoy the videos too!

Reggae resonante

De esto se trata lo que hace el buen muchacho mejicanote Lengualerta. Prometedor artista de reggae que mezcla elementos de hip-hop, dancehall, world music y otras cosillas para darle un sabor unido a su sonido. Lo descubri atraves de otro artista cuyo nombre incorpora una parte del cuerpo y un adjetivo en una sola palabra: Bocafloja (al que ya me remitire en otro momento, ya que me gusta y mucho). Disfruten este disco del 2010.

This is what the nice Mexican fellow Lengualerta is all about. Promising reggae artist that mixes elements from hip-hop, dancehall, world music and a few other things to give his sound a unique flava. I've found out about his through another artist whose name also mixes a body part with an adjective: Bocafloja (whose record I will be talking about since I also like it very much). Enjoy this record from 2010.

Kuchiroro - Todos los dias son una sinfonia

'everyday is a symphony' - el ultimo disco del maravilloso trio Kuchiroro. Conocidos por sus ingeniosas creaciones en el genero del breakbeat, la verdad es que el talento de estos muchachos supera todas mis expectaciones cada vez que sacan un disco. Una especie de Beastie Boys electrónicos con melodías igualmente clásicas y futurísticas; las palabras no les hacen justicia. Pero sobre todas las cosas un disco super pegajoso y altamente recomendado!

More love for our neighbors from the East. Sharing some more acquisitions and findings from my trip through the land of the Rising Sun.

'everyday is a symphony' - is the last album from the wonderful trio Kuchiroro. Known for their clever creations in the genre of breakbeat, truth is that these guys' talent exceeds all my expectations every single time they release a record. Sortof like a more electronic version of the Beastie Boys with melodies equally classic and futuristic; words don't do these guys justice at all. But, above all things it's a super catchy record that's highly recommended!

Chile breaks the beat

Mr. Vecino comes back after a small hiatus; summer caught me off guard and with the World Cup fervor in full swing I forgot to post something in this here blog. Since Chile just won their first match in the last 4 years, I dedicate this post to them. I've been closely watching this Chilean latin/breakbeat artist for a while now. They had a really nice album with Mr. Roban in 'Musica Para Despues De Almuerzo'. Now DJ Bitman is all on his own with a really sweet music box full of latin-influenced summertime beats. Been listening to it non-stop this past week. Enjoy!

El señor Vecino vuelve despues de una breve pausa; el verano me agarro desprevenido y con el fervor de la copa mundial a todo ritmo se me escapo publicar algo en el blog. Ya que Chile acaba de ganar su primer partido en cuatro años me parecio apropiado dedicarles este post a nuestros vecinos del Oeste. He estado observando este artista Chileno de breakbeat/latin hace ya un rato. Con Mr. Roban saco un discazo titulado `Musica Para Despues De Almuerzo´. Ahora DJ Bitman esta por las suyas con esta caja de musica influenciada por los sonidos latinos y ritmos veraniegos. Lo estuve escuchando la semana pasada sin parar. Disfruten!

Lowdown Suite 2 by Canada's own Moka Only. Nice record to relax or get inspired by the clever beats and Moka's cool rhymes. Hip-hop with equal parts soul, jazz and psych. People are on the fence about his sound, I personally love it and think it has a nice flow and drive behind it. Hope you enjoy!

Lowdown Suite 2 por el canadiense Moka Only. Lindo disco para relajarse o inspirarse por los inteligentes ritmos y rimas chidas. Hip-hop con iguales partes soul, jazz y psych. La gente esta dividida sobre su sonido, pero yo personalmente lo disfruto mucho, creo que tiene una direccion y sentido muy copado. Espero que lo disfruten ustedes tambien!
