Spirit of the 80's

The 80's revival in music is nothing new. In fact, it's probably dying down since it went horribly mainstream and got ridiculed by people out there to make a buck or their damn 15 seconds of fame. But there's always a few things one can rescue from every fad. Here's 'The Tesla Boy' from the Russian Federation. A record from last year, but definitely worth a listen if you haven't yet. Enjoy!

De hecho, a esta altura debe estar casi muerto ya que se hizo horriblemente popular y fue ridiculizado, como siempre, por gente que solo se sube al tren para hacer plata o tener sus putos quince segundos de fama. Chile breaks the beat

Mr. Vecino comes back after a small hiatus; summer caught me off guard and with the World Cup fervor in full swing I forgot to post something in this here blog. Since Chile just won their first match in the last 4 years, I dedicate this post to them. I've been closely watching this Chilean latin/breakbeat artist for a while now. They had a really nice album with Mr. Roban in 'Musica Para Despues De Almuerzo'. Now DJ Bitman is all on his own with a really sweet music box full of latin-influenced summertime beats. Been listening to it non-stop this past week. Enjoy!

El señor Vecino vuelve despues de una breve pausa; el verano me agarro desprevenido y con el fervor de la copa mundial a todo ritmo se me escapo publicar algo en el blog. Ya que Chile acaba de ganar su primer partido en cuatro años me parecio apropiado dedicarles este post a nuestros vecinos del Oeste. He estado observando este artista Chileno de breakbeat/latin hace ya un rato. Con Mr. Roban saco un discazo titulado `Musica Para Despues De Almuerzo´. Ahora DJ Bitman esta por las suyas con esta caja de musica influenciada por los sonidos latinos y ritmos veraniegos. Lo estuve escuchando la semana pasada sin parar. Disfruten!

The French Jean-Jacques Perry will be known to my American friends for a different reason than he will be known for to my Latino friends. In the eyes of Americans and everyone that has fond Disneyland memories he is the mischievous artist that crafted the electronic avant-garde classic Disney's 'Main Street Electrical Parade'. He was definitely one of the first "electronica" artists ever, ions before the genre was ever coined as such. Enjoy disc 2 of this recent greatest-hits-ish compilation.

El frances Jean-Jacques Perry les sera conocido a mis amigos estadounidenses por distintas razones por las cuales les sera conocido a mis amigos latinos. A oidos de cualquier niño o niña latin@ Jean-Jacques fue el picaro artista que creo la cancion de musica electronica avant-garde "The Elephant Never Forgets" que luego se convirtio en la cancion apertura de "El Show del Chavo del Ocho", añares antes de que al genero se lo denominara de ese modo (alla por 1970 para ser exacto). Disfruten el segundo disco (que incluye ese tema) de una recopilacion que salio recientemente.

Mucho Punk?

Disquito de musica electronica que nos llega desde Corea. El disco de regreso de Clazziquai Project, quienes habian estado en hiatus por un tiempito ya. Se conocieron viviendo en Canada, pero cuando volvieron a la patria madre DJ Clazzi junto a un par de sus amigos y puso un par de temas para bajar gratis en la Internet. Un poco de house y un poco de acid jazz, muy lindo sonido. Nota aparte: No es nada punk y la tapa estrombotica viene de yapa. A bajar!



Nice little electronica record all the way from Korea. The return of Clazziquai Project, who had been in a hiatus for a while now. They've met in Canada, but when they returned to the motherland DJ Clazzi gathered a few of their friends and put together some free tracks up for download on the Internet. A little bit of house music and a bit of acid jazz, really nice sound. Side note: It's not punk at all, but that freaky cover is very welcome.

Space Invaders from Jamaica

Agarre una reedicion de Destroys The Invaders hace un año en las playas de Santa Cruz. Las disquerias de ahi tienen muy buen gusto y precios baratos. Prince Jammy, el niño prodigio de King Tubby puso este discaso en la estratosfera en 1982, cuando el furor de los fichines estallaba en el mundo entero. Dub de primerisima calidad con sonidos espaciales, extraterrestres y demas referencias auditivas al clasico de los arcades 'Space Invaders'. Se aconseja quemar cosas con esto.


I've picked up a re-release of Destroys The Invaders about a year ago in the beaches of Santa Cruz. Their record stores have very good taste and cheap prices. Prince Jammy, the prodigious son of King Tubby put out this amazing album out into the stratosphere in 1982, when the videogame rage was exploding all around the world. First class dub with spacey, extraterrestrial sounds and other audio references to the classic from the arcades 'Space Invaders'. I recommend burning stuff with this.
