..gone for a bit..

Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I used to. School and life in 2011 got suddenly busy and a few other things took up more of my time than I had anticipated.
This entry is dedicated to a dear friend of mine who left us last Thursday. He was one of my best friends here in the States and the reason why I have so much appreciation for Hawai'i and all the islands in the Pacific. He taught me a lot of things about the history and true culture of the Hawaiian people, true warriors and sweetest people you'll ever get the chance to meet. A true inspiration for lots of us, he will be dearly missed. Keali'i Reichel was one of his favorite artists from the islands, so today I shall dedicate my post to him as well as share with you all some of the sweet music that I learned to love during my stays in beautiful Hawai'i. I can still hear Ian's sweet calminig voice coming through the speakers when he would sing karaoke at any of the local bars. I miss you, my friend. God bless and rest in peace, love , Tomas.


Lo siento por no haber podido escribir en mi blog últimamente. La facultad y mi vida en el 2011 despegaron derrepente y un par de otras cosillas me han requerido mas tiempo del que pensaba. El 'post' de hoy esta dedicado a un muy querido amigo que nos dejo el jueves pasado. El fue (y sera por siempre) uno de mis mejores amigos aquí en los Estados Unidos y la razón por la cual tengo tanta apreciación por Hawai'i y todas las islas del Pacifico. Me enseño varias cosas sobre la historia y cultura del pueblo Hawaiiano, verdaderos guerreros y una de las gentes mas dulces que alguien pueda conocer. Fue una verdadera inspiración para todos los que lo conocimos y sera realmente extrañado. Keali'i Reichel era uno de sus artistas favoritos de las islas, asi que hoy le dedico este compilado de temas por Reichel a el y lo comparto con todos ustedes, musica que aprendi a querer durante mis visitas a Hawai'i. Todavia puedo escuchar la dulce voz de Ian viniendo de los parlantes cuando cantabamos karaoke en cualquier bar de Waikiki. Te extrano, mi amigo. Que Dios bendiga y descansa en paz. Amor, Tomas.

La Condicion Humana

Went to Bottom of the Hill last night with friends. Got invited to see Jay Breenan (of Shortbus fame) play live, had never heard his stuff and must say I was pleasantly surprised. Jay was performing with two other artists that night, one of them is who I bring you guys today: Jhammel. His new CD 'The Human Condition' is a free download off of his site and highly recommended. After all, how can you say 'no' to free? His performed in an almost acoustic way last night, but his record features synths and drumkits, pretty cool stuff. Also check it out his website if you get the chance: pretty interesting fellow with a cool voice.

Anoche fui a Bottom of the Hill con amigos. Me invitaron a ver Jay Breenan (conocido por la película Shortbus) tocar en vivo; nunca había escuchado su música y debo decir que me sorprendio lo mucho que me gusto. Jay estaba tocando con dos otros artistas teloneros esta noche, y uno de ellos es el que les presento hoy: Jhammel. Su nuevo CD 'La Condición Humana' es de descarga gratuita en su sitio y altamente recomendado. Despues de todo, como decir que no a algo que es gratis, nocierto? Ayer toco un set mas que nada acustico, pero su disco incluye sintetizadores y kits de bateria electronica, bastante copado todo.
